Not bad, but not good either imo

Biting the rappers from the golden era won't give this album any respect lol, Dude is all flow and the music is pretty "meh"

Haven't listened to it yet. Have to ask though, is it biting? Or is it heavily influenced by?

If anything, you can say he influence by dudes like Starang Wondah and old Redman with the flow...sounds like some BCC rah rah shyt

He sounds like a random grimey 90s dude in a hockey jersey, but he has his own sound and style. He reminds me of DOOM sometimes too, which is a good thing

Appreciate the info breh. As a longtime Starang and Redman fan, I think I might just enjoy this album. Will definately give it a listen this weekend.

This album is ill

Not sure what people expect from Joey, maybe there was a "new Nas" vibe on 1999

But dude has seemed to embrace the 90s NYC grimey aesthetic more and putting a new spin on it

I aint mad

Exactly... this is his lane and he's comfortable in it. I rather have a MC who has a specific sound over these hop and go trendy rappers out anytime. Beautiful album.

I dont get people saying stay out repeating the 90s sound... D'angelo did a throwback about to 70s funk and no one complains...

I am a futurist generally and as an electronic music producer aswell as a hip hop fan, I love new sounds and concepts. But nothing wrong with revisiting the past IF its done authentically and with heart, and Joey makes this sound a lil fresher than the underground sounds we are used to with this sort of production...

I do hope he grows after this album but i think its the first album he always dreamed of making, and if he made something more progressive he wouldnt be true to himself..

i think the album works, cant wait to listen more...
