song was dope but i agree it sounded like an old Smif N Wessun joint.
This goes. got that Enta Da Stage feel to it! :whoo:
shyt reminds me of this

Sounds like ATCQ joint ...Scenario.....but i dig it

:mjlol:

This is basically the equivalent of nikkas listening to Biggie and saying he's dope cuz he sounds like Melle Mel... What 90's rapper sounds like and 80's rapper? Why is this ok? Somebody please break it down to me. Im not even trying to be an a$$hole. I'm just lost...

:russ: You're goin in but why is this any different from Troy Ave's marketing plan of bringing back the "classic feel", biting 50 cent, counting money during freestyles like Cam etc. Action Bronson sounds exactly like Ghostface. Nothing is new under the sun and unfortunately innovation is rare in hiphop today(aside from ATL rap scene).

I think he will eventually grow out of it as his career progresses tho

i'm not saying he's the best of the new kids or even the best new cat from NY i just like the song. He needs to do something to stand on his own tho. Not saying he needs to stray from the boom bap sound or anything he just needs to find his own voice, it almost blends into the beats and I don't really find myself listening to his actual rhymes that often.

There is no doubt that he'll eventually have to stray away from that sound but atm he stands out because he is keeping that old sound alive.

And that's something that I appreciate from him. :ehh:

This should pretty much answer the question. For me, sometimes I just want to hear that 90's boombap. :yeshrug:He does it pretty well. It takes me back to when I was a youngin growing up in Baltimore. I simply appreciate that.:jawalrus:

nikka hype cuz he knows Half A Mil :mjlol:

I aint bragging, im speaking from my experiences. Should I erase my knowledge to suite your insecurities? I aint dropping names, I know a few nikkas, so what, fukk these rap nikkas. I don't even do hip hop marketing anymore. My knowledge aint that vast. But if I see some bullshyt being said ima speak my mind. Should I be a sheep like you?

"Oh he's rapping over 90's beats, must be dope" Nah ima do critical thinking and ask myself, what about this is new, groundbreaking and cutting edge? Answer; NOTHING. shyts a retread, created, marketed for consumption by sheep like you. When they do marketing meetings, they base who they promote off of what they KNOW will work. Joey had a built in nostalgia audience (you know... sheep like you). You just a mark to them and you defending it like you know something. You know what they tell you to know.

X-Clan toured with MC Hammer, Joey should be able to tour with Makonnen. Because it's ALL HIP HOP... But ya'll nikkas have to put everything in a box and hate on each other to the point ya'll divided and destroyed the culture. With "Real Hip Hop" vs. "Fake Hip Hop"... shyt is all rap. nikkas are talking what's real to them. Ima faq because I can respect and listen to every mans story without bias? Oh ok... i just thought i loved the culture in ALL ITS FORMS...

This nikka is unoriginal and he raps in circles and says nothing. THATS MY PROBLEM. It seems contrived. Its like he KNEW if he rapped on Old School beats, and did Old School videos, Old School heads would cosign him. That's lame... First rule of Hip Hop is be original... If music is a reflection of the times... How is this relevant. That's like Trey Songz singing like Teddy Pendergrass.:stopitslime:

I could see if he did this and put a NEW SPIN on a old style. BUT THIS nikka IS JUST IMITATING OLD RAPPERS. ITS KARAOKE!!! I dont respect that... Ya'll just making excuses for this shyt.

im 30 years old by the way.

that's crazy your THAT old and yet represent immaturity to the fullest

and me hype? ngga YOU the one bringin your hood into this so I expect disrespect for milly

I see your position now; you love hiphop no matter what and want to big up one section of hiphop and say its original and bash another sector and say they are biters

its called influence my man. where the fukk you been? you tellin me young thug is original?

he is a DOWNGRADE from lil wayne so how is that original?

listen I ain't in here defendin joey I could give a fukk less

its about you comin into these threads waving your arms tellin nikkaz artist A is wack and a biter yet artist B is A-OK with you or even acceptable based on C

we don't giv a fukk what your lil ass brother is listenin to that's your fault. you lost it homey not us

as far as BCC buckshot already co-signed him (as if he has a choice) and sean P already gavehim a pass

the one thing you brought up which is funny is teddy p and trey songz

the only thing they have in common is they both funboys

otherwise trey is a clone, he don't gotta sing 70s joints he rips 90s off already

It sounds like he really found the best way to mix in his love of 90s shyt in with a bit of modern taste.

Albeit still coming out very 90 sounding-ish

This the least dusty I expect Joey Bad, and he sounded good so I give it a 8
