Ok I was starting to doubt Joey bc it’s high risk low reward to go at Rat Vaughan who most people never heard of. I think Ray’s rebuttal was better than Joey’s original, but this was a haymaker. Nice barfest

I still see this as ‘please battle me kendrick so I can get what stimulus’. Its weird af he spit all them rhymes in front of Ab Soul and he keeps dissing TDE but being buddy buddy with kendrick…but also trying to bait

All in all this is pretty silly and probably label-mandated. But at least Joey flexed his lyrical prowess which was kinda weak in the first track

Not weird because TDE have been using the ‘it’s competition’ angle throughout the drama so this should be light for them tbh

He baiting the wrong guy…the timing is wrong for dot to battle right now and with the run he’s on fans don’t even think Joey has earned that battle

This energy shoulda been aimed directly at Cole

He's going a little overboard with the name puns :hubie:.....Same with all daylyt/daylight puns in the freestyle. shyt gets tired after a while. Focus more on the content.

There isn't any content to go in on because Ray is pretty much a nobody. There's nothing to expose with him because no one knows him and he has no history in the game. This is all Joey has to work with. Son him for thinking he can address you and keep it moving.

Ray will respond to salvage his name and it can be better than what Joey just did. There's nothing in it for Joey if it keeps going though. It'll just be trying to get the last word which is why he's trying to move on to Daylyt.

Daylyt is a real battle rapper so I don't expect Joey to beat him. Ab Soul didn't when they had a friendly match. Gotta respect a known artist for wanting to get in the ring with him or any battle rapper.

Not a fan of that. Too much like battle rap culture. Where dudes talk about killing each other and ‘fukk your mom’ but ‘oh nah nah we just playing make believe :whoa:.’

Battles don’t need to lead to violence but they DO need to be authentic. I’m not one of ‘nah it’s for hip hop, competition’ fans. If 2 dudes have no reason to go at each other, then don’t. It’s corny otherwise

Meh
As a Joey Badass can I can say he could have gone harder.

Also I feel like he sounded like he was vocally going out of his way to sound very coherent.

What's the problem? Its the same as roasting. It's just on beats. The amount of foul shyt I've said about somebodies mom, sister, etc while roasting somebody and not having any issues with them afterwards is too much to count.

Yea Joey def hasn’t earned a Kendrick battle.

And far as Cole, that goes to my point that this is corny and forced bc he DID try going at Cole. ‘Might delete later, I know Joey won’t’

In another era, that line alone would spark a Cole reply, which would spark a longer Joey reply, etc etc and boom, rap beef ngga :myman:

But Cole ain’t bout that life and generally speaking nggas are 30+, that type of youthful gotta prove myself bravado is long gone. In their prime these nggas were super friends but now they wanna have their jay-nas-pac-biggie moment . :comeon:

TLDR: It’s corny

Also, I can't imagine Kendrick responding to this until after the tour. Hell, maybe not until he drops his next album lol.
