This fake ass Neptunes beat

Such a weird choice, reminds me of early 00s releases that couldn't afford a Neptunes beat but wanted to sound modern and relevant. This is 20 years later.
Joey is a great rapper but he doesn't have enough direction. I can hear a Griselda influence on a lot of the album, but I think Joey wants his music to be smooth and accessible, so it ends up sounding like hes rapping on lo-fi study beats. Some songs sound like hes really doing whole impressions of other rappers flowwise, subject matter, production.
I mean its not bad music, but I think hes limiting his success by trying to be mainstream, ironically. It feels dated.
