He’s right.

Someone like Larry June for example doesn’t do “big numbers” sales wise but he’s been on tour all summer and fall throughout North America (I was at the Toronto show), Europe and now Asia. His show here in the city was PACKED and from what I’m seeing on his IG, every city is doing numbers, many selling out.

He definitely gonna clear a few millions from just touring and I’m sure Joey can do the same whenever he want because they got built in fan bases who will support them now. It’s many rappers that were poppin just 5 years ago that couldn’t sell out or do a tour because they don’t have the fans that truly support them, despite inflated streaming numbers.

I disagree. The first week is a measuring stick of a lot of things for major label or noteworthy artist releases. The stream numbers are directly related to consumption: how much are people listening to your album. We see drops in streams towards the end of first weeks because people tuned in to a big record, didn't find much or anything they liked, and moved on. Or we see streams build and build because people tuned in and found multiple tracks they like.

It's a good measurement of casual interest and casual appeal for albums. If you're someone like Joey Badass your album is largely going to only be consumed by your fanbase, which means smaller numbers. In his case, I don't think he cares because he knows his tour is going to sell out to the same people who streamed or bought the album. Whereas the casual listeners bumping a few Ken Carson tracks have zero interest in going to a show.
