It's true if you can carve out a loyal fanbase that supports, buys your merch and tickets etc.

Only a handful of artists are "selling" anyways. It's not like everyone else is unsuccessful either, but if you're on a major, these numbers definitely matter to an extent

He’s right.

Someone like Larry June for example doesn’t do “big numbers” sales wise but he’s been on tour all summer and fall throughout North America (I was at the Toronto show), Europe and now Asia. His show here in the city was PACKED and from what I’m seeing on his IG, every city is doing numbers, many selling out.

He definitely gonna clear a few millions from just touring and I’m sure Joey can do the same whenever he want because they got built in fan bases who will support them now. It’s many rappers that were poppin just 5 years ago that couldn’t sell out or do a tour because they don’t have the fans that truly support them, despite inflated streaming numbers.

It's easier to make a good living off music, but infinitely harder to be a superstar.


First week sales would only not mean as much if your album has legs.
