Well not really. It was a sign Rock wasn't suppose to come back. Rock said he would never leave WWE, but did, because Hollywood is on his mind. Even when he came back, he was still thinking about Hollywood. The passion and the fire for the business was gone, because Rock was no longer the Rock but Dwayne Johnston. Its like you have to prepare your mind for WWE, like why Steve Austin is no coming back. Could he, yeah. Will he, no. Because the WWE is a traveling Circus/Soap Opera where you need to always be relevant to the stories around you. It's why Brock Lesnar can fit in, because he has Paul Heyman to explain why he needs to be brought in Storyline.

Training with Curtis Axel will not make you ready for WWE, you need to think about who your character is and what is he here for. He relied on his catchphrases to enable him to bypass the actual story, and it showed how out of touch Rock was with the current product.
