One of my friends has a father who is a well known jazz musician here in the bay. He may not be known by the general public, but he has fans and still makes a living from his music.

My boy told me that one of the reasons their marriage failed was that his dad couldn’t turn off the onstage persona. He couldn’t be just a father and husband at home. Maybe that’s part of what Cena is getting at. Unlike my friend’s dad, the spotlight is on him 24/7. There is no down time, it’s hard to put your family first.

Anyway, I think it’s admirable that he can acknowledge some of his weaknesses.

People in the military have kids and would probably see their kids LESS than John would see his and make it work ....but whatever.

Thats not a good thing though. And trust me, some of these cats never see their kids. Whether by choice or not.


It’s usually a family unit thing that allows it to work and becomes a successful marriage. They take their family/kids with them wherever they go (thats not dangerous or is the homeport, not deployment).

Cena is correct with his logic. I think it has more to do with his age now than it actually is about his career. His career took off as he got older and actor/entertainer usually doesn’t build the most stable family units.

My daughter turns 1 next week. shyt isn’t for the weak, if you don’t want kids in part because you don’t think you’ll have the time to commit to being the best parent you can be, that’sa good reason not to have any.


My daughter is my mini me, it’s wild as hell seeing a little version of you. My wife was out of town for work a couple weeks ago so baby girl was rocking a fro, got some baby pictures that she looked damn near identical to.

my boy is 14 months old and this is super true. gotta be ready to let a lot of shyt go to be fully present for your kid
