First of all, amateur wrestling is not pro wrestling. Secondly, you're not allowed to go for submissions in freestyle wrestling. A lot of these guys will get beat by trained MMA fighters simply because they haven't been in the position of defending themselves from a bad submission position or know anything about boxing. If wrestling was all you needed to win, all of those Olympic wrestlers Pride FC used in the 2000s would've beat the likes of Sakuraba, Yoshida and Fujita. Wrestling is a great base, but you need a significant amount of time to learn how to defend yourself in a real fight.
Size and weight classes don't matter?
UFC championships have classes for a reason. Mcgregor fights guys who are 155... If he went against a heavyweight in the UFC he would get clobbered right? Otherwise why would there be weight classes?
