They're getting paid with a free education, they provide their services in exchange for the chance to attend elite schools and use elite facilities for free. Plenty of 18-23 year olds across the country are busting their asses trying to put themselves through schools and these entitled punks want to get paid? FOH

Those poor kids!!!!!!!

Being forced to attend upper echelon universities for free, play sports on National Television in front of thousands of people, be treated like rockstars on campus and use high class facilities

NCAA is modern day slavery!

Too bad.

1. The NCAA needs to remove the barriers to going pro
2. Let these kids be good enough to go pro.
3. Sorry some of these kids come from bad situations and have to deal with the stresses of not having money, but I think its just a "too bad, so sad". When you enter that campus, you're there to play your sport...and you have more resources than any non-scholarship student. So I really don't want to hear it

@Napoleon is just wrong.

There's a documentary on Netflix called "Schooled: The Price of College Sports"

You should watch that, rather than dig your heels in like a brute.

We would alleviate this argument of paying athletes if we did the following:

1. allowed them to go pro out of high school
2. removed their student status and gave them some sort of university affiliate status that allows them to be paid (and prevents any sort of confusion from agents and others trying to bet on the students or take money etc)
3. A scholarship is what these kids got...and if they can't handle it, then they shouldn't get them. Theres tons of non-athletes that could use the money and would do far more in terms of giving back to the school with a good career/education.
