WHAAAAT?? I’M JUST SEEING THIS NOW!!

AWW MAYNE...

This hits different than most deaths, yo.
Like... I hate to say this, but it truly feels like Basketball is dead right now.
Of course, when I think of coach Thompson, the first thing the comes to mind is The Dominant Five...
...which has been dying for some time. But Coach going...it reminds me of the Bible when the Apostle
John (ironically) who was the last living of the 12 said that he knew when he was gone then heretics
would come in and pollute the congregation. It kinda feels like that.

we lost the pedigreed skill of coaching up the five.
plus the ability to develop the undersized enigma leader at pg in ai too.

I feel you on it feels like basketball died.
as we lost the last patriarch of black sports Americana.

I am truly sadden by this and it is even worse because it is compounded.

I used to listen to coaches radio show YEARS ago. When the trend of shooting bigs started popping off, he always used to say "You wanna be a BULL or a BUTTERFLY??"
When Yao was coming in to the league, everyone was raving about his touch from the outside.
Coach was like :mjtf: "He 7'4 tho...??"
Wish I had the courage to speak the time we rode an elevator together. I was kinda starstruck.

RIP Coach.

The more I thought about it, Coach Thompson was the last of the Old Guard since Pete Newell died.
And the only ones I’ve heard of that still teach the Post Game are Kareem and Ewing...

Lowkey: Georgetown Big Man IMO was one of the legacy positions in sports
(Lakers Center/Yankees CF/Dodgers Catcher/Cowboys QB/Notre Dame QB/USC RB, etc.)
...where you expect results because the system seems to let that position flourish.
I mean, because of Coach Thompson, you had some respect for Othella Harrington, Jahidi White,
Roy Hibbert, and Haseem Thabeet - even if they weren’t great.
