As someone who admittedly despised Duke as a teen, has been a Bullets/Wizards for a loooooong ass time and while during my five-year stint at the WWL, only asked to take a picture with one athlete and it was John Wall before he committed to Kentucky because I was certain he was the future of the point guard position in the NBA, let me just say that I would throw John Wall in the world's biggest and most finely pruned bush for Kyrie Irving and it's not even something I would have to think about.

Kyrie is simply better than him, period and if you've seen enough of both of them, I honestly don't understand how this is really a debate. I really like John, am glad he's our point guard and think he's without question deserved of the All-Star nod he will get this season. Does he have the potential to be all the things that people say he is in this thread? Sure, and I'm not saying he will never get there, but he's not there yet and he's not better than Kyrie right now, period.
List all the things Kyrie does better than Wall right now...

Offensively, everything. If you want to say he's a better passer or playmaker, whatever. But other than that, Kyrie is better at everything else.

Defensively, Kyrie is bad, but John Wall ain't Patrick Beverley his damn self. if someone tells you John Wall is a great or even good defender, they don't watch Wizards games or hope you don't just so they can win an argument.

Just as I assumed...In a discussion about point guard play, passing and playmaking gets summarily dismissed under "whatever"..

I see exactly where you're coming from, we just share different philosophies on the game..

I also strongly disagree on your assertion that Wall isn't a good defender...At that's from the perspective of a season ticket holder and a George Mason training annual attendee...

Nah, it's not about having different philosophies on how point guard's are supposed to play, I just said what I said because I assumed if I said that Kyrie is also a better passer and/or playmaker - which in my opinion he is - that someone would just point to their assists numbers as certifiable proof that I was wrong, and I honestly didn't feel like being bothered.

And yeah, we just strongly disagree about him being a good defender. In my opinion, he's not a fundamentally sound defender and gives an inconsistent effort on that end of the floor. He's gotten better, but I still wouldn't consider him a good defender.

ATL…overly
Teague is the bottom of that 3. There's not a huge gap but it's not like its close either.

Teague reminds me of the Augustins and Collisons when they get hot. Quick guards exploiting the space they're given. I'll give him props, he can light it up, but he's not in the same convo and no where near as consistent.

So John Wall is the model of consistency after having 1 relatively injury free season now? Teague has gotten better every yr he's been in the league & is every bit the facilitator Wall is and proved he can score when needed like Kyrie. Not to mention his Hawks>>>Cavs & Wiz. Give Teague his props

Part of his poor defensive fundamentals are a result of coaching..Witt uses him as a free safety and encourages him to gamble a lot.. Statistically he's very good in pick and rolls and has gotten a lot better at chosing when and where to fight through screens.. Defending back door cuts is still a weakness. But to have the team ranked 13th in defense with an injured NeNe and replacing Okafor with Gortat (who is a terrible help side defender) speaks highly of Wall's efforts..

Is he Patrick Beverly? Maybe not. But neither is PB if he is getting 20 and 9 on offense and not splitting time with the Chinaman...

Kyrie doesn't have better vision than Wall... Period...Never on any level has he displayed better instincts.. No need to even bring up assist stats to score that point...
