"Wanting it more" rarely is the reason a team wins games. It's usually superior talent, or a team that is talented enough to implement a gameplay to nullify the other team

In this case, Minnesota was talented enough defensively to throw multiple guys at Jokic, and talented enough to play better team defense than Denver could
Eh. “Wanting it more” is usually how the player/team became more “talented” in the first place. Talent is definitely not the reason Minnesota beat Denver.

It's extremely complex. Natural talent, height, the hard work of developing your skills, intelligent management decisions that put together the right team, flukes that allow the right team to come together, coaching, determination and attitude over the course of a game, chemistry, who has been having good vibes recently, who is in peak physical form, crowd support, officiating, and all sorts of random lucky shyt that happens during a game ALL play a role.

The natural human tendency is to want to simplify narratives as much as possible so we can know the "answer". Reality is far more complicated than our brains want to deal with.
