That nikka had no plans on missing the season, they never do. Because if u dont play you forfeit those game checks unless you're injured due to a football related incident. So he either gets paid his 4 or 5 milli or get nothing. Thats why owners almoat always stick to their guns.

What was he supposed to do--miss out on money that he can't get back? Making $5 mil is better than nothing which is what he would got if he kept holding out. He doesn't have many years of peak earnings left so he has to get what he can get while he can get it. He tried to get a new deal it didnt' work and now he'll try to get by on $5 mil.
