Jordan actually set the NBA back with his legacy.

His legacy tainted how teams were constructed and how players wanted their roles on those teams wanted to be portrayed.

People think that the Bulls were Jordan, Pippen and a bunch of scrubs. Not realizing the Bulls simply had great teams, with a great bench a great coach and great management. The Bulls had a great team concept which was lost in the Jordan brand. You had great players on teams that didn't want to play with one another because they all wanted to be the Alpha male. Jerry Stackhouse left Philly because he didn't want to give up the number 1 spot to A.I. The same reason why TMac left Toronto. Now part of that also has to do with players wanting to maximize their earning potential and GM's over valuing players on the market but it all goes back to the same thing. Iverson carried that mentality until he couldn't get a job no more and until they teamed up in Miami players were unwilling to take lesser roles for the goal of a title.

And ironically the salary cap has basically sent that philosophy back to the way it was in the 90's. Teams get penalized for drafting/developing talent. Players shouldn't have to take pay cuts to put together a winning team but that's basically how it is now.

NO ONE thinks that.

my only complaint is when people erase the competition the Bulls faced in the 90s.. they act as if the Pacers didnt have them on the ropes in Game 7 of the 98' Finals, or the Jazz in 98, Suns in 93', Blazers in 92'. Knicks in the 93' ECF. etc.

muthafukkas act like he was playin against John Wall, and Paul George n shyt :yeshrug:

As a 90s Baby unless you actually went back and researched, We think of Jordan as some Superman God carrying the Bulls entirely :lupe:

Superman Jordan was in the 80's. he didn't win his first title until he was 27 and the last one when he was 34. Jordan didn't start winning shyt until Pippen came an soon after Jackson who inserted him into the starting line up. Teams tried to recreated that and the best players wanted to be that but they sucked when it came to picking the right coach, system and role players. What Phil Jackson did in L.A. proves that.

And those Lakers, Pistons and Celtics teams of the 80's played within a system and had the right mix of superstar and star players who embraced their role.

In today's NBA, Dumars would've left Detroit for a max contract. Worthy would've dipped to make max dollars on another team.

People look at Jordan making 35 million a year toward the end of his time in Chicago but fail to realize what to contributed to get to that point individually. That's what players try to emulate but Jordan's individual accolades was only part of the Bulls title run. Those same Bulls won 55 games the year after Jordan retired the first time. In todays NBA a super star player leaves that that team is in the lottery the following year.

Those Blazers teams should've won at least 1 title. And the Jazz were basically like the Spurs of today.

So Jordan being great set the NBA back because they don't remember the rest of the squad and that made Iverson selfish...

The Jordan career playbook can't ever be recreated because he only needed to win 1 title to validate the years of hype and individual accolades without team success.

No one will get that pass ever again because 6-0 in the finals is out there, so your time is ticking from basically the beginning of your 3rd year to win championships or you overrated
