Up....why is this being ignored?

The Chamillionaire story is funny & classic, but I don't blame MJ for not wanting to hang around "n!ggas" - even though Chamilionaire ain't that type.

@CHICAGO been told us that MJ not likin' Black ppl is an internet myth

Yeah it's a little silly at this point.

I remember reading this long as piece on him. I think it was Sports Illustrated but I'm not sure. It said, specifically, that his group of friends is pretty much exclusively black men. And as others have noted in the topic he's done little things here and there.

The autograph thing is a non-story, what *is* worthy of discussion is the "whites buy shoes too" comment associated to him. However, I think that he was proven right in the end....he smiled up in their faces until he made enough money to buy his way into the league. You have to be tactical with these cacs because they are extremely good at sniffing out black dissent.

Look at the Charlotte Hornets staff page vs the 29 other teams in the league in terms of black employment.

Executive Staff

Half of the top executives of the team are African American. You better believe theres a strong correlation between the black ownership/management of the Hornets and the black employment at and around the Hornets and Time Warner Cable arena. Cant get anymore real than that.

No team in all major leagues (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) is even close to that kind of diversity.
MJ even got criticized for it when the Bobcats were losing tons of games (2011):beli:

best paragraph in the essay

" Jordan just happens to do this "black thing" in a way that has been different. Quiet. Subtle. And no one gets it. His contribution to the race has been by providing power but not by voice. Most blacks aren't used to that. We want our leaders and heroes to make noise. Instead, Jordan has had more black people employed and upwardly moving through a $2.5 billion shoe brand for years. And now he's carrying that same process over to franchise ownership."

how time flies......
