Regarding the letter he also signed this one, which even though doesn't specifically call it a genocide is not something I believe many Zionists would sign. The primary way the nazis sanctioned who to send to the gas chambers wasnt on Jewish facial features or Jewush cultural practices or religious affiliation , but by a complex 4 generational genealogy, whereby if anybody up to your great grandafthers' generations was a jew, even if you yourself were 95% arian-german-blueeyed catholic, then you would be put on a train to aushwitz.
It made it hard for even undercover or unaware Jewish (reffering to ashkanazi ethnicity not the religion) people to lay low during the genocide. Hitler specifically implemented the geneology method because he was extremely paranoid of Jewish people hiding in the ranks .
This is why modern jews have a reason to be touchy on genealogy.
And it gets worse because after years of selling their service as a tool of self discovery, these 23AndMe / Ancestry.com tech companies revealed that they are selling this data to whoever wants to buy it, similar to cambridge analytica's scandal with facebook . So While im certainly not a jew, i can imagine this is an existential crisis because its by such data that they were able to be hunted down beforehand. And it goes farther than just the individual jewish person taking the test, since the same test can inadvertently reveal other jewish people you are related to that did not take the test, but had genetic services for another purpose. That ready made database of Jewish people is extremely problematic for a people that were previously hunted down based on these lists.
