You one of those brehs who think that anything not related to the hood is corny and prefers to continuously celebrate dysfunction but complaining about the VladTvs of the world. Its 2019 the hood movies have been done to death. In the renaissance days throughout the 90s and early 2000s it was appropriate for the time that we were still in.

What can possibly be done today with it?

Lets have more creative movies in other genres or themes outside of hood movies.

We can have movies on:

Teddy Riley/New Jack Swing and how it influenced modern music today
Authentic Black New Orleans Culture. Break down the culture fully outside of the generic side the media reports
The Decline Of The Black Church and the Reasons why and Why Black Spirituality is Rising
How much Coretta Scott King was doing for the Black community in the decades after her husband died.
Our own Black animation movies on various subjects related to the community. Animation like BlackSands Entertainment, but also more examples of black animation on Black American culture especially past innovators in science and tech

A Biography on Pigmeat Markham and how he was one of the first rappers
Documentary/Film breaking down Private Black Schools in Black neighborhoods and how beneficial they are to young kids that go to them. Everyone knows about HBCUs but not many people speak on those private black schools that nourish Black youth at an early age. Documentaries or even some films showcasing some talented youth there could be of great help

Films on cryptocurrency and a group of friends or a family that gets involved with it

Anyways that’s your opinion and I got mine. All them are great movie ideas I didn’t say all I want to see is hold movies I just said I wanted somebody to make more a hood movie damn.

And Get Out is overrated as hell. It was a cool and dope concept but it wasn’t great like people make it out to be.

Peele has been public about putting black people on from the jump.

Like two weeks after Get Out came out 2 years ago.

Get Out director Jordan Peele wants young black filmmakers to get in touch

"For young black horror filmmakers, if you have a script, reach out and I'll try to help it get made. Monkeypaw Productions is my production company and we're really trying to promote untapped voices in genre."

Peele blames the lack of diversity in Hollywood on a couple of things.

"One is there's this misconception in Hollywood - that is hopefully nearing its end - that black leads in films don't do well, particularly overseas," he explained.

"But I think even more, the reason we don't see more films about the African American experience is because we haven't nurtured black talent, we haven't encouraged young black filmmakers to dream big.

"When you have that, that's when you have this systemic problem where artists aren't getting their platforms, aren't given their platforms.

"Some stories it's impossible for a white person to tell."

Luv was the best out the 3 to me. Imperial dreams was just sad man. It’s hard in the hood :mjcry:


They was all good movies to me. Brotherly Love was good just the plot was a little out there lol.

I guess they have made some pretty good hood related movies lately but they went straight to Netflix with little fanfare. Why is that? They directors was black excellence too. They didn’t get the push from white media that’s why. The Nat Turner movie didn’t get the push from white media either like Get Out and US do. They didn’t get that 100% rating on rotten tomatoes before release and shyt. Just my opinion tho.

I'm not understanding the hate when it comes to his comments. Saying "Ohhhh you shouldn't have said that!" to black people putting in work that paints us in a better light on screen is straight up sambo babble and pocket watching. White people will be mad af at whatever we do. If he didn't say it, they'd comment about how his movies has all black leads. That would, of course, not fly over their heads.

Jordan Peele is his own man. He weighed the pros and cons of saying that he only casts black leads publicily and made his decision. Let's just rock with it and keep enjoying his movies.

Besides, it's not like he said he only casts black people, only black leads. White people are all over his movies. Scary ass nikkas need to just fall back and let dude walk his own path.
