So sick up this culture of anti-intellectualism. Everyone's opinion is somehow more credible than scientists and experts who've spent their entire career studying a certain subject. And I'm sick of Joe Rogan spreading bs to millions of people. Its ok to be an "out of the box" and radical thinker as long as you apply that same skeptisim to your beliefs. But this isn't what JP and Rogan are doing. They purposely lean heavily into alternative facts that support their own bias.

The shyt he said was idiotic coming from a supposed scientist.

Climate doesn’t exist because you can’t account for every variable?

We know that changes in climate are driven by 3 primary causes: solar activity, atmospheric particulate and greenhouse gases. There are robust models collating millions of pieces of data in real time.

Perhaps there are other factors that contribute to a smaller extent, but saying “climate isn’t real because you can’t account for every factor” is like saying health isn’t real because you can’t a account for ever factor. Applying this logic, your doctor cannot tell you what state your health is in: whether you are at risk for anything, or whether not you should lose weight, or take supplement or whatever because he doesn’t know everything that happened to your body.

And he has the nerve to say this garbage with a smug demeanor. What a fukking idiot. I believe dude that said his students used to ether him in his class.

Its always been obvious that Jordan Peterson is a clown and a pseudo-intellectual, but what's more worrying that he was allowed to retain both his clinical practice and his professorship while showing that he doesn't have an ounce of academic rigor in him.

His first first book was absolute garbage, and wouldn't have even garnered a passing grade in a college philosophy seminar - he clearly wants to be a multi-disciplinarian like Douglas Hofstadter or Gilles Deleuze, but doesn't have the intellectual breadth or a deep enough understanding of *anything* to become someone like them. His subsequent books are even worse. Just shytty self-help.

Instead, he's just become another "hot take" based public intellectual with no leg to stand on, effectively a bro-science weirdo with a slightly better pedigree.

The problem is that he still has a following, and no matter how consistently he makes huge errors or outright lies, they'll never give him up, he's in a class with Elon Musk and Stephen Pinker, and even Rogan himself.

Adding in two of the best critiques of Jordan Peterson I've read:
Nathan J. Robinson doing a lengthy takedown of Peterson and his writings:
The Intellectual We Deserve ❧ Current Affairs

Paul Thagard, a Candian psychologist doing a slightly shorter takedown of Peterson and his writings:
Jordan Peterson's Murky Maps of Meaning

I get what you are saying but here's something else i'm noticing
It seems people are really putting Rogan on a pedestal, and are way more critical of his views than what Mainstream media lies about.
Why is that?

I really think Mainstream media has destroyed the country by dividing it, now half the country hates the other half so nobody is holding politicians accountable, they are too busy hating on the opposition.

CNN lied the country into the Iraq War and people are hating on Rogan more, that doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Rogan is one of the most listened to media figures in the U.S. and platforms reactionaries that have a hard time even getting mainstream corporate media attention.

People have been explicitly critical of mainstream media for decades, you just don’t pay attention to any of it, so you think it isn’t there.

What exactly do you think “Manufacturing Consent” as a term means?

Mainstream media has also not “divided the country,” there have been deep ideological divides since its founding, that have festered and only widened overtime, in part due to media attention, but largely due to the actions of a given group - like the conservative backlash against basic civil rights for Black people, for instance.

The government(s) lied to the people of the U.S. about the Iraq War, blaming CNN first is mindbogglingly short-sighted.

Not as much as Rogan when mainstream media has done way worse.

This is absolutely false, during Eisenhower's time there was not such a big divide between left and right at all.
They were actually somewhat similar.

The government(s) lied to the people of the U.S. about the Iraq War, blaming CNN first is mindbogglingly short-sighted.

CNN lied about the war.
MSNBC never talks about the war and fired Phil Donahue for voicing his opinions and then Dylan Ratigan for his rant on corporate corruption.
Can you even imagine if Joe Rogan had an associate on the show and he corrected Rogan and then Rogan fired him, do you know even know the size of the online backlash there would be?
Fox News had Bill O'Reilly making people more racist and stupid, and now hannity and tucker got the batons and running with it.
CNBC is always pro-bank.

Im not saying the govt. didn't lie about the war, i'm saying mainstream media was absolutely 100% complicit.
MSNBC did expose all of Bush's lies in the end but then was pro war during Obama.

Put it this way, mainstream media has blood on it's hands, Rogan does not.
I understand people's discontent with him, but the energy against mainstream media should be ten fold.

I remember when Rogan pretended to be a centrist.
Recently he had the one guy explain why the US Military is underfunded and now he has Jordan Peterson explain why climate change isn't real.
He's unashamedly far right now.

It's a typical feedback loop. A figure radicalizes their audience with their content, who in turn force him/her further right as their popularity and influence grows.

When Rogan has a right-winger on everyone that doesn't watch Rogan talks about it.
When Rogan has a leftie on, nobody on the left talks about it.

He did have someone say the military is underfunded, he also had Abby Martin on who said the Pentagon needs to be seriously downsized and is the planet's biggest polluter and contributing the most to climate change.
