Dumars was an anchor on a great backcourt w/IT, 6 time all star, 4 time Defensive first team player that oh yeah was the Finals MVP in 89, averaging 27 ppg in that series while sweeping the Lakers. And I hated the Pistons too.

Comparing someone who basically never plays defense, on top of not even having any accolades to support such a ridiculous comparison to a player who was an anchor on championship teams, achieved accolades on BOTH sides of the ball, and has proven himself in the biggest moments in basketball. Again, anyone who watched Joe Dumars play and has common sense would laugh at this comparison.

Is Beal even an all star? In the weak east how many times has he made an all star team? One? How many all defensive FIRST teams does he have?

Beal never plays defense? It's like how do ya'll even have the gaul to speak on shyt when you don't even watch modern basketball? Beal is a rock solid defender and would be even better if he were playing on a team with strong defensive principles like the Bad Boy Pistons instead of a train wreck Wizards team that can't rebound, rotate, or defend in transition. Beal is strong, has a nice wingspan, and is hard nosed on the court. Also, he's averaging a block per game as a SG.

Dumars and Zeke were one of the greatest backcourt duos ever. Period. Not taking anything away from Beal, but to say if you placed him on the Pistons during that time the results would be the same is ludicrous. Folks forget Zeke and Dumars had to guard JORDAN (who was in his mid 20s at that time and a fukking BEAST) and they did a damn good job (along with the rest of the Pistons).

yes it is laughable, the only time this comparison gets made is on here. Nobody else is comparing these two players at all. Not even close. I don't compare it on accolades, although such a lopsided margin in accolades does seem to play a factor. I watched Dumars play. I hated him, but he was a great player. An ex football player turned basketball player, he's as tough as they came. Everything you go off of is on paper, anyone that actually watched Dumars knows he was the real deal. You keep propping up attributes of Beal, please tell me when he's ever made an all defensive first team? Just one? In the historically weak East? Dumars made 4 of them.
