It's the media's job to talk about hot topics.
As for the letter, I'm glad that he made it out of situation as a child, but he's not the only one who has came from that sort of back ground. Just because he had it rough growing up, doesn't mean he is granted impunity from the idiotic decisions that he has made time and time again.
And for the alcohol charge, why would you drink anywhere close to New Years on that agreement? Drug tests are always going to spring up at the times where they expect you to partake in those activities the most.
I'm happy he's owning up to his mistakes, but that still doesn't mean he isn't foolish for making them and he may need help for the future.
