Several things with the Ja Morant thing:

1. There were several incidents prior to the gun flashes IG posts that the Grizzlies and NBA fronts office swept under the rug.
2. When the FIRST gun flash IG post happened at the Denver club, the NBA did wait until AFTER the Denver police handled their investigation. And despite the Denver police didn't find any sufficient proof on both of it being a real gun or a toy gun. It was then the NBA decided to suspend him a few games which coincided with him being out for injury anyway.
3. After Ja lied to Silver's face and did it again, Silver did delay any suspension until AFTER the playoffs because he said he didn't want that to distract that from the playoffs.

I say this to say that Ja Morant wasn't immediately suspended. It was always delayed based on what the police investigation says or other reasons by Adam Silver. So, Silver has been consistent in what he says. He's just waiting for whatever confirmation by the local police investigation with Giddey.
