He's just unproven. He could become revis or sherm, but its unknown. The unsettling part was he just popped this last season, and his low int numbers. I thought Carolina franchising him was the perfect way to handle the situation. Gettleman blew this one, problems with the agent or not.

Cant wait till star and kawaan short hit the market
JNO was let go so we could resign star and short Gettleman values the lines over everything like he said u build from the inside, out no way they walking ...plus they younger than Norman who almost 30

It was a dumb move by Gettleman. The tag benefits the team...and gives them a year to negotiate a contract. Did he really think Norman was not going to get picked up and come crawling back? And that ~$14 mil they 'saved' by rescinding the tag from Norman doesn't make them a better team. Free agency is over...the Panthers already had the cap space to sign their draft picks. It sends the message that the GM values his philosophies over the players that've performed for him.

We've locked up our young corner stones already in cam and luke so I disagree. this season will show if he made the right choice or not....

I all but expect us to grab 2 of these stud DBs in the draft ...could see us double dipping in round 1 & 2... Like we did with Star and Short on cornerbacks ...

Gone miss my nig JNo but I trust Gentleman we all hated cutting Steve Smith too...

Nah, Gettleman values his Hogmollies so I see him going for D-line first then CB in the middle rounds. Norman was a 5th round CB afterall. Pressure on the QB is more important we can still find CB value later.

True this draft is extremely deep at CB...

I could see DL or OL in the first as well

I'm not implying he doesn't have a plan in place...but if that's how Gettleman felt from the jump, there was never a reason to franchise Norman in the first place. Franchising a player usually means that you want to keep them, and recognize that they are performing at a level equal to the top five paid players at their position. How do you then offer the guy a contract that's below that level?

I don't get how you don't throw his name around in trades, and try to get something in return.

They did try trades and nothing developed. First of all Norman had to sign his the franchise tender for the Panthers to trade him and he didn't plus I don't think teams were willing to pay Norman's outrageous price AND give up draft picks.
