I swear this on my life: With my own ear I heard ATL sports radio hosts compare Josh Smith to LeBron James. Yeah you read that right... LEBRON!!!
Until this year, saying anything bad about Josh within vicinity of Atlanta, GA was suicidal, my man. Out here only man with more stans than J-Smoove was Mike Vick

Doggy, i live in Alharetta right off Winward pky.

I've been living in Atlanta for almost 9 years now. My first year here was the year he got drafted along with Childress. I've seen Hawks fans love affair with their hometown native son go through its ups nd downs but Josh Smith is like Vick out here: Polarizing. Most love him. Some hate him.

All I know is i had to almost get myself into witness protection for saying Josh Smith was just an average player. Even on this very board and on SOHH i've argued with hawks fans for years trying to get them to come to their senses about homie. Look me up. Use the search feature and find places i mention Josh Smith and watch how I had to run for cover in those threads. I remember mofos calling me a lll kinds of names for suggesting the Hawks should trade Josh for Melo

I know I'm generalizing when i say "you guys" and "hawks fans" but still.

• Weren't you Hawks fans claiming Josh Smith was a star in the making or rising star?
• Was it not on this very board that you cats claimed you wouldn't give up Josh Smith For Carmelo Anthony?
• Many times i would hear random Hawks fans talking about "..J-Smoove is the best player on the team. He just doesn't know it yet.." when speaking of a team that had Joe Johnson and Al Harford on the roster. Was I hearing voices???

Say what you want about Joe's shortcomings when it comes to rising to the occasion in the playoffs, dude was a legit top 5 if not top 3 SG in the league at the time. He was simply not D-Wade of Kobe.

Being the heart and soul of your team does not make you the best player on the team. And that's all Josh ever was. Some of you guys overvalued Smith to the point where people wouldn't dare talk shyt about him at some point. It wasn't until Woodson left and Joe left that people saw Josh for the garbage that he really was.

BTW, i clearly remember that clown on 92.9 on the weekend taking out of his ass saying, and i quote "Josh Smith is the closest thing to Lebron in terms of the complete package..." and then some of the local clones calling in to agree with him. I was driving t stone mountain that saturday morning. Had to pull over to the side of the highway to laugh because i damn near choked on my chicken biscuit.

The last few seasons Josh was in Atlanta he was a borderline All Star so yes that's a "star in the making/rising star" to me

Some Hawks brehs did say that about Melo, but you're ignoring the greater meaning behind that statement at the time...Josh is/was/will never be a scorer like Melo, but in ATL Josh would do more for your total team (scoring, rebounding, defending, running the break, etc) than Melo would. THATS why the statement was made
