Why?

Let's see... Getting Pau would allow Horford to slide over to his natural position at PF. Pau at this stage of his career is a center and can still give 15 and 10 with the right team.

Pau will be a nice trade piece next year because of his contract.

If Smith's value was so good, how come teams have not made any serious offers to Atlanta for his services?
:what:

Yet you want them to get Pau Gasol :lolbron:

So the idea should be to keep trading expiring contracts for players with longer deals all while continuing to downgrade in talent? Sounds like a recipe for success

Bynum? You're going to give a guy a max deal that has not been healthy for a full season and has chronic knee problems. :wow:

Why would Dwight go back home to Atlanta when he wants to play for a contender in a big city? Dwight wants to stay in a big market with a chance to win a ring. Atlanta does not provide that. He needs to play for a basketball city.

CP3 ain't going anywhere especially to a team like the Hawks.

Did you forget that these players can get way more money re-signing with their own team than free agency?:shaq2:

Jennings is nothing special. He will never lead a team to a ring. Are you suggesting to him someone like Jennings a max deal? :wow:

Why would a player sign a one year deal when there is a chance he can get injured and cost his millions? Players want guaranteed contracts with security. A one year deal does not provide that.

Somebody will give Bynum the money and Philly seems that they want to as well.

Atlanta is a huge Basketball market but they only support stars and teams with a real chance to win. The Hawks aren't that and haven't been since Nique.

CP3 might come to Atlanta. We have a better team in place in terms of starting five. We could be like a better Stockton/Malone Utah Jazz if we ever get a center.

Jennings is elite at running PnR's but you can't run them by yourself. See Steve Nash. That's why Horford is so misused, when we had Bibby, Bibby couldn't create but he has a decent PnR and he could run an offense. Teague or Harris can't and they are horrible in the half court. We got three good half court players in Jenkins, Korver, and of course Horford who is very good.

This is what Hollinger said about Horford.

Scouting report
+ Elite big man with great mid-range shot. Can run floor, handle, pass and finish.
+ Developing post game. Needs to improve left hand and utilize more fakes.
+ A natural 4 but capable of defending 5s. Very good on switches. Rebounds well.

He has one year left on his deal. Next year the Hawks can use Pau to trade for a player(s) that wants to be traded or help facilitate a 3 team trade with Pau and getting back some pieces they want.

Only an idiot judges a trade right away. A lot of deals that are made in the league are made for the future. You might get back a player that might not be in your future plans, but you can use that player later to help secure the players you want.

A team is not going to give up young players for a player that might leave the team after the season, has to be paid a big contract, and has a history of problems with his team.

Only Teams With Caps Space Can Bid On Amnestied Players, Those Bids Never Go Too High

Lets Say Someone Picks Up Pau For 5 Mill Bid, The Hawks (We're Assuming This Is His Team In This Scenrio) Have To Pay Him The Rest Of His 19 Million

So Basically The Hawks Will Be Paying Him 14 Million To Play For Someone Else

:dwillhuh: What if nobody bid for the player?

This year's 1st round pick and Josh Smith for Gortat and Kendall Marshall is a win-win.
