Ross is better served for vignette voice overs and sit down interviews at this stage. He’s a master of pulling that “it” thing out of people when he’s one on one with them.

That’s where AEW can use him best, JR can make a “nobody” a somebody by telling their story one on one.

Things move way too fast in ring now which is why he seems a step off out there at times

That said. Unfiltered JR on his podcast has been hilarious

I think he's eventually moving into that role but with them launching the company, they need a voice familiar to wrestling fans to get them off the ground first. He signed a three year deal with AEW as a Senior Advisor, and I think he'd best be used to groom announcers for the company.

Dude was talking about CTE during matches and shyt.

In his defense, I'd be talking about that as well if he's calling matches like Naito/Ibushi

Really liked during the main event where he kept repeating how much he loved this match, how great it was, how intense it was, with absolutely zero passion, couldn't sound more bored, as Jericho was wheezing and putting on another 1 star match.

He's not very good.

This past show was a bit better. It seemed like he was doing more color and letting Excalibur do the play by play.

Ross always been the live version of this smiley:unimpressed:.

People hyped him up as the second coming of commentary because of "attitude era", but fail to see after the "good god almighty", it's just dead boring air.

No type of energy when he was getting shytted on in WCW and his first of many times in the WWF/E. After that god awful performance from All Out, it's safe to say maybe Ross needs to just retire and focus on covering barbecue grills:ld:

I don't agree, I feel like he adds a lot, he may not be perfect now and makes more mistakes than he used to, isn't as sharp as he's older but hearing his voice and calls reminds me of the old Raw's. He's not the NWA Jim Ross anymore and never will be but it reminds me of those 97 ish Raw's often, he actually sounds better than he has in a while, but he works better with shyt he feels rather than the oddball shyt where he can sound a little out of place. Overall he really has a significant effect of my enjoyment of the show, I like the shows better because he's on it because he's a legend and arguably the best ever, he may not be at his all time best but he's still good and better than most, I'd rather hear Jim Ross than Michael Cole any day of the week.
