Crazy enough he can get that $440 in less years. They offered 13 years $350 6 months ago and he Rejected that, they called him crazy then just for the Nats to add 2 years and $90 more million to the offer. He can get that $440 in 10-11 years instead of 15.
Anthony Rendon making $36 million and Carlos Correa making $35 million. Juan Soto wants Max Scherzer money $43 million.

Why take 440 million over 15 if you know someone else will pay you that or more over a shorter amount of time.
The Nats offered that knowing damn well he would turn it down. They have new tv deals coming up, don’t lock yourself into a career long deal at a discount without being able to see that money.

Ted Leonsis, who owns the Wizards, Mystics, and Capitals is interested in buying the Nationals.
The Lerner Family has a minority stake in Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE) which is Ted's group that owns all three teams.
Ted would love to monoplize the DC media market by owning the MLB, NBA, NHL teams and have their games on MSE network and/or NBC Sports Washington which he also owns part of.
With that said, it looks like the Lerners will have a different buyer than Leonsis
If he is traded, the only teams that has the pieces for him is the Dodgers (smh), Red Sox, and Yankees and looking at the Nationals roster, they need younger guys with one of them being a face because I refuse to believe that Ruiz, Robles, and Kieboom's injury prone ass will get that nod

That 15 year contract is a straight up insult, basically trying to make sure he never hits the market. 
Why in the hell would anyone with sense take that contract when he could get several higher annual value contracts? He can get that money in 9 or 10 years and sign another contract and add on to that. He's not some mid level player being offered this, it's a multi time All star and mvp candidate.
