how would they be infected, if the vaccine was effective make up your mind. you can't swing back and forth like this

if the shot worked, then leave non-vaxxed people the fukk alone. if it didn't work, then why make anyone take it?

it's not swinging back and forth, vaccines work at a community/population level since it slows down the spread within the community.

A good example of this is the measles outbreak in Texas where even vaccinated people are contracting it.

Plenty of "healthy" people were effected. I personally know a couple that were avid gym hours and both were in great shape, both were put down for weeks from COVID. The husband told me he thought he was going to die and his wife wasn't hit as bad but suffered from brain fog for about a month. Even in the early days, we saw "healthy" looking people that had respiratory problems due to covid
