Both are extremely useful and go hand-in-hand. BJJ has a lot of components rooted in Judo

OP here. Which of these fukks with your fingers worse? Judo or BJJ? I'm assuming the latter is better for those with finger issues since you can still go no-gi.

Its not about rolling around on the ground. In the street, you dont fight off your back. Its more about, if you do fall on the ground. Do you want to be the guy that we see in worldstar hiphop videos, mounted getting punched in the face, or do you want to be able to dictate where you are on the ground so you can be the guy mounted punching the guy in the face or a knee on his belly, punching him in the face, or standing back up altogether. Also, if someone who is larger than you throws you down and stands over you to throw punches, do you want to be the guy in the worldstar hiphop videos getting his face punched in or the guy who can take that man off his feet with ease and dictate where you want the fight to be.

With judo you throw the man on the ground or trip him, then what, You crouch down to beat the shyt out of him and trhwo shots. Theres really no difference in how you can apply both arts, its just one has a greater emphasis on throwing than the other. BJJ takedowns are meant to use as little energy as possible to achieve the same results.

i have a dislocated finger from BJJ that i ahve to get surgery on to put back in place. I thought it was jammed but the joint actually dislocated during a sparring match. Both can fukk up your fingers because both are grip based. My finger dislocated after someone broke my grip from their gi collar. I really wanted to hold the grip and ended up hurting my finger instad of just letting go.

That is the only finger injury ive recieved since i got my black belt. Injury wil happen. Most people get injured because they are trying to do too much, or do not tap. Its good to be honest with your training partners and leave your egos at the door to avoid injury. If you dont wanna go hard, say you dont wanna go hard. Better to lose in the academy then in the street.
