TYRONE GA!
It did...

Crate Digging was also a thing too.

Rappers gotta find a way to break bread with the person they are sampling too.

I know the older artists started getting out of hand with their demands and publishing percentages, but the whole point is trying to keep your music alive to newer generations too. Don't get out of hand with demands. A bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bush.

The market is to be blamed for drop in quality as well. You can't blame obesity on fast food restaurants alone, if there is no homecooking or demand for it, kids get used to junkfood. Popular music requires a source to draw from, be it hip hop whose Mother/father in the name of RnB has been thrown in the bushes by the market, Dancehall with reggae or Afropop with authentic afrobeats. Musical creativity from computers alone can only last for so long.

Two of the most well reviewed video games of all time came out this year. Barbie & Mario put up big numbers on the movie side. :francis:

This a rap problem.

Artists been getting a pass for releasing trash for a while now. Shorter songs, no artistry, no lyricism, no album crafting, no more dance music. People not pressured to co-sign bullshyt artists to fit in no more since internet era fans don't have the same sort of universally popular water cooler artists like in prior times so no more "u just not in touch breh :troll: ".

Chickens coming home to roost
You just named outliers

Barbie and Mario are two successful movies in an ocean of 2023 mega flops, wrapped in the context of a Hollywood that has been struggling (pre pandemic before you use that excuse). There aren't even movie stars anymore, and it's not for lack of trying on Hollywood's end

Two games in an ocean of a gaming industry dwindling due to consumer apathy. Nikkas are getting tired of buying the same shyt year in and out, and there's an incoming strike

What's the movie, show, or album that people are looking forward to? Everything just exists now because everything is mediocre to trash with the odd exception.

Y'all can staunchly make it just about rap because that was how op presented it but this is a much larger societal issue

Everyone is going through the motions, chasing bags, not taking risks, and pandering to advertisers and investors . Everyone is creatively bankrupt

GOOD, fukk the rap game.

Hip Hop culture is alive and well. The artform of rap is alive and well, the industry of exploitation and proifteering to the advantage of cacs is is dying a slow death, thank god.

You still going to love it when you can't use it for a come up?

Are the young nikkas still telling the older nikkas that we just don’t understand what’s going on these days? Y’all lil mfkrs don’t like the new bullshyt rap either. A bunch of ratchet women rappers running the game and everybody scared to say it’s trash
You didn't

No one is ever gonna be honest about the fact that the separation between older and younger black folks has a lot more to do with the older generations bad faith arguments and jealousy disguised as "game" than anything the youth is doing.

Older nikkas love blaming the kids for living out conditions older nikkas created, but when it's time to address the issues of the older generation nikkas are suddenly blameless. Some of y'all posting in Sexy Redd threads ad nauseam like to ignore that a Trina, Kim, Uncle Luke ever existed. Some of y'all worshipped Eazy E as kids but look at the seeds of the Eazy tree and wanna cry shyt has gone too far. Shyt has grown naturally

Even if I set content aside y'all couldn't even school the youth on not signing the same bad contracts black folks been signing for 70 years:snoop: y'all don't even own anything. Why should any kid listen to y'all?

The black community has failed it's youth repeatedly, and the youth grows increasingly resentful about it, and nothing will change as long as all the fingers are pointed at the youth that inherited the fukkery of their parents

That has nothing to do with an exec not giving the greenlight to market distribute said art to the masses, I literally just was a world reknown animation studio looking at this shyt in real time, plenty of artists out here doing interesting shyt that'a outside of the norm

There's no shortage of dope artists, they're just dealing with uncreatives on the business side of things so they can't really breakthrough into the mainstream. They're just in their niche circle of influence
But finding these things is work these nikkas don't want to do

They want their art the same way everyone else does. Fed to them through an entity. They just act like they're above the people that are upfront about it:russ:

Nobody buys music anymore, we all stream it for free. And really it's only cacs and Mexicans who attend the tour shows.

Who buys whole albums these days?

It’s honestly not talked about enough how mac miller sampling lord finesse and taking an L in the lawsuit changed the landscape of sampling
