I read it.. only thing that caught my attention is when the mayor said she wouldn't elaborate on why she fired him because it would bring shame on his family.. That let me know a mistress could've been involved..

The fact that he insisted on staying was confusing as hell to everyone. It’s like working at a company you hate with management that wants you gone as well. Ppl stay in those situations bc maybe they need the money or benefits. That guy needs neither, his pension will be the same either way.
As mayor of a large city any mayor has to demonstrate power, especially when it comes to the police - and even more so if said mayor is Black and a woman. And in a city where cops and other powerful majority white interest groups have a history of openly disregarding/pushing back Black politicians. She actually showed him a great deal of deference by not openly demanding his resignation after she won - when it was very obvious she wanted a new chief. He has publicized health issues - at least once during a live broadcast. She sent signals that he should consider resigning but he ignored them. He should’ve resigned, everyone would’ve given him a hero’s send off and everyone is happy. THEN on top of that he crashes his ride after he mysteriously passed out AND it turns out alcohol was involved AND there’s video that will be part of some internal investigation and eventually publicly released. No one is allowed to survive a situation where you embarrass the mayor/governor/president.
So not only did she give him ample opportunity for this shyt to be resolved “in private”, he honestly didn’t even deserve that. This dude headed the organization/institution most antagonistic to Black men in Chicago but you jumping to defend him if it involves being able to shyt on Black women
For everyone talking about him not getting his pension, he was already vested in the pension, just not at the $260k salary. Vest plans let you keep your pension once you're vested, even if you're fired.
