Then they keeping all their bad contracts. Knicks want to clear the cap, they can get rid of multiple bad contracts for 1 year of Russ. Why they do it? Their pg position is the weakest, they get rid of their bad contracts, Russ brings in revenue. Makes a lot of sense for them for 1 year, they can even just buyout Russ if they want to.
