Jump Ball vs. Possession Arrow

I really hate how the NCAA uses the possession arrow instead of a jump ball when two players tie up.

Maybe I'm just being close minded, but how is the possession arrow better in any way than a jump ball?

I don't see how it adds strategy, you're penalizing the defense for making a good play in most cases.

but then again, I don't like college bball as a whole so

I have a love/hate relationship with the one-and-one. On one hand, I like it because it forces you to make free throws & could possibly speed up the game. On the other hand, if my team is up & the other team starts fouling and they're not in the double bonus, I could lose the game for missing a free throw.
