According to F4WOnline.com, the announcement of Liger at Takeover is a controversial one, as Liger and New Japan Pro Wrestling have ties to ROH, and several NJPW stars will be working the ROH Field of Honor event also taking place in NYC on August 22nd.

The report also notes significant behind-the-scenes moves are being made regarding the NXT and ROH relationship, and they’re moves which reportedly have nothing to do with NJPW.

I've read that Liger is allowed to book himself internationally. I'm guessing that's what took place here, although I wonder what a hypothetical roh/nxt partnership would involve:jbhmm:

Saw this posted on a ROH board

Dave also posted this

Phone rings at building ROH books: "Hello, this is ----- from WWE. We love your building and would like to run it."

Building rep: But it's only 1,500 seats and you don't run buildings this size

WWE rep: Well, we have this new brand catering to smaller buildings and we just love your building.

Building rep: We'd love to have you.

WWE rep: Well, there is one thing.

Dirt sheets are getting serious.

Apparently there are potentially groundbreaking talks between WWE and NJPW on talent sharing and cross promotion, beyond just having Jushin Thunder Liger at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.

Speculation seems to veer as to how this will affect ROH - Some say they'll get cut out (and that a grudge is being held over the Kevin Steen action figure, of all things), but it seems the common safe bet is banking on both stateside companies to make more money by working together.

My opinions? Anyone who watched Beast In The East, and all of the surrounding programming around it, was probably shocked in some way by the unprecedented acknowledgement and outright naming of other promotions and accomplishments. You've had mentions and sporadic nods over the years, but this was an embracing like none other.

Everybody can have their lane and strengthen each other. There are clearly folks with a vision, the connections to make things happen, and the diplomacy to see the money right.

This is pretty cool, imagine a NJPW vs. WWE PPV, shyt would be bonkers, every match would be a draw.

Or it'd be all stars vs. mid-carders

Nakamura vs. Ryder
Tanahashi vs. Kofi
Okada vs. Miz

:duck: WWE won't allow NJPW to book for them like ROH allows them to do

This is some exciting stuff, HHH sniped Bryan's idea for a NJPW/WWE show haha.

shyt man, it's good to see the E notice that incorporating NJPW isn't gonna hurt them in any way, WWE doesn't have to be the only company in the universe.
