Can we just say that both of these guys killed it and did their thing on it? One of the best rap collabs of all-time in my opinion. I mean, if you want to break it down, I like Em's verse a little better because he's going at organized religion and I like his rhyme schemes a little better. But I wouldn't argue with someone who likes Jay's a little better.

Nas's line off of Ether is classic, but it's not true, just like Jay's "one hot album every ten years average" was a good line but far from true.

And how did I miss this live version? Wow. Both of them are really good at duplicating their studio performances. But Jay-Z is better at backing up Em on his verses than Em is at backing up Jay--Eminem is very awkward at it. ;)

Maybe its a tie :manny:

This is pretty much the reality of it. People get caught up trying to argue which is better, but they're both dope. I could see how someone would prefer one or the other, but I can't really say either is significantly better than the other. In terms of content Jay's is probably better, but in terms of delivery/flow/emotion Em is better. In terms of rhyming they're both dope. So I'd call it a draw.

Also, the eminem verse was already pre written.
Jay had a chance to match his verse and compete.

eminem didnt have that oppurtunity :manny:

id break it down like this:

on paper, jays verse is better. and the substance is >>>
em killed the flow tho n thats why people remeber the shyt more. @MooseMouthMthafuga also has a point about the conviction in his voice

nah....you can see the technicality in em's verse on paper just as much as you can hear it in his flow. The first verse alone is a a prime example of rhyming 101.

this whole debate about who ate who on a track is played, and is part of the reason why we got all these collabo tracks now with dudes just trying to come up with the most clever punchlines on some slaughterhouse shyt without really saying nothing

they were both just speaking on their own personal experiences and frustrations with the industry...nas said he was murdered on his own shyt cause they were beefing but before he said that everyone I knew just saw the track as a great piece of work

this is why I view groups like Outkast and UGK as the GOATS, cause them dudes weren't tryin to compete and see who had the best bars/cadence/punchlines etc...nikkas were just trying to tell stories and make good music
