I understand why Hov gravitated to Timbo, Pharrell and Kanye for his last couple albums (commercial appeal) but they resulted in pretty shytty music. Whereas Just Blaze n Hov have always made records that are not only dope, they're like events. Perhaps that's what Just Blaze's "specialty" is? He doesn't have many placements each year yet you always wanna hear that new Just Blaze produced track. Drake fukked up Lord Knows with some wack bars but it's still an amazing beat. Compton isn't one of the best tracks on GKMC but that shyt knocks.

But even that seems like it's gone. When was the last time Just did something amazing? I want to say 2011 lol. Lord Lnows and I Love My bytches by Ross; yes that Ross track was wack but the beat was amazing.

Timbaland, Pharrell, and Kanye have more than just commercial appeal. All of them have produced classic songs for Jay Z and have as much chemistry with Jay Z as Just Blaze does. He's created events with Timbo, Pharrell, and Kanye. Nothing Just has done for Jay Z comes close to the event that was "Takeover". There's the reaction to when "nikka What, nikka Who" first dropped or the President referencing "Dirt Off Your Shoulders". "Allure" is still one of Jay's classics. All of those guys are far more eventful than Just Blaze ever was. That's not a knock against Just Blaze because he was poised to become one of the greats. The difference between them and him is that they all produced entire albums. Some of them were game changers.

Fire.

Just Blaze's interpretation of Death Row Era production.

I think we we are gonna see artist in genreal returning to their own classic sounds in the near future.
I think the this trend is being started by French Montana (Wave God's Mixtape), Curren$y etc.

Just Blaze doesn't have a signature sound? Are you people crazy?

Big horns, strings. Hard drums. That's his sound. I can post 5 examples off the top.

I can go on and on. Of course he can switch it up. But this is his bread and butter. Kanye waas always more soulful and pop. Just tracks tended to be harder.

Anybody can post smilies. I actually like "PSA" and think it's one of the best songs on The Black Album. The Interlude that starts the album and "December 4th" are highlights as well. "Dynasty Intro", "U Don't Know", "Lyrical Exercise", "Some How Some Way", "Hovi Baby", "Song Cry", and "Girls, Girls, Girls" are among Jay Z's best songs. Still, he's gotten classics from other producers as well AND those songs were events.

And while we're at it, there's some Jay Z songs that Just Blaze produced that people aren't too big on. One of them being "Show Me What You Got".
