I use an Apple Laptop most of the time, I just need a PC based media hub for movie/video torrent downloads & streaming to my PS3. I would like to leave the summabich on all the time nonstop though. But if this gateway gonna give out, I might need to treat it with kid gloves.

as someone that worked in bestbuy PCHO and Geeksquad I would recommend you get a higher processor for stream. What you have now is ok, but as time go by the processor will get slower and fukk up ya streaming. You can just get a media hub (seagate) when that happens though. Gateways aren't bad computers. I wouldnt leave it on constantly though, i would turn it off every now and then. Upgrade the ram also to insure good streaming.

Lenovos are better btw

That's fine for what he wants to do. It's a desktop i3 not a mobile i3 it's pretty much comparable to some mid/mid high laptops.

Install an SSD drive in there one day an it'll fly.

the price is alright as far as pre-builts. there's also nothing inherently wrong with Gateway. like most pre-builts it probably has a crappy PSU and crappy cooling

What's the problem with it breh? Does it have mad errors/glitches/etc...? Is it just the fact that you know you could build a better one? Or is there issues with this PC?

Nah, its a good pc, still holding me down 2 years later. I COULD just add more ram (I always have ALOT of shyt open at once) & rock out w/ it for another couple years (recently added 2tb hd, og one is full). There's no issues w/ it, I got my mac couple months ago & I like Mac OS/Retina display a lot now, so I just wanna build a Hackintosh when I set my office back up. If you really don't want to spend the time building a pc then I would keep the Gateway.

I'm talking all this Hackintosh shyt now, but when the time comes I could see my lazy ass just getting more ram for my Gateway, a higher resolution monitor & just docking my Macbook to it whenever I need to:manny:

This is how I use my Gateway now, its only hooked up to one tv though.. I just don't leave it on non stop like that anymore. Sometimes it might stay on for a day or two straight if I forget or if I don't feel like shutting it down. But for the first year & half when it was my main, it was left on non stop for weeks at a time. Sometimes i would put it to sleep/hibernation mode when I was sleeping(4-6 hrs, then back on the rest of the day), but most of the time it was on doing shyt in the background over night :scheme:

I bought a DX and a SX from Gateway 2 years ago and haven't had any problems. Ignore the dudes on here saying they aren't good computers. They are very good for the money. Just don't expect to play any games on them unless you upgrade the graphics card.

Ssds loads applications almost instantly, transfers files faster, and are way quiter and energy
efficient. Boot times are just an added benefit.

If i'm gonna spend the bread, I rather build a Hackintosh. I can build something way more beastly for around the same price as a Mac Mini. Plus i'm used to the speed of the ssd on the MBP now, so I can really rock w/ anything w/ lesser specs.

I've worked on Macs most of my life but never had a personal one till recently. Hackintoshs always seemed like too much work for me. The i7 minis are like $799 so yeah if you can build something better than that I'd do it too if I ever got into it.

I watched some youtube videos & found this site that tells you the exact parts to get so there's no compatibility issues or anything, didn't look too crazy...
