Just curious...why did Philly get so much love from Roc-a-Fella?

That was not low-key he said it himself hinting to Jay-z's constant "i'm gonna retire".

looking back, it kind of was.... A lot of the shyt Dame did gets overlooked as just typical Dame shyt, but when you really look at it, and how much he fukking hated Lyor and all those execs, he would've started his own shyt in a matter of a few years...and had everything in house.

They had nothing to do with Beans?

The story I got was that they signed Beans and wanted to sign all the hot spittas from Philly that Beans fukked with.

Young Gunz might have been signed before Beanie and O & Sparks were signed around the same time as him. Them nigg@s just sat until they figured out what to do with them. But Beanie did bring in Freeway...who was a random bul he just met, and Freeway brought in Peedi. Those 2 are like the only ones who had a relationship, cause the rest of those buls didn't even know each other.

Smh Dame and Jay signed Young Gunz not Beans. Beans had nothing to do with Young Gunz and Peedi. Jay and Dame wanted Major Figgas during the Black Friday entertainment days. Philly artists were being signed by the dozens. Philly Most Wanted signed to Pharrell n them but Dame wanted them too. Eve to Ruff but Swizz n them already was Philly Peoples. Ruff Ryders had a bunch of unsigned Philly nikkas around too. Jay stayed following Philly buls. He loves Philly.
swizz had cassidy too... jay starting touring with the roots.. philly was on fire for a couple years

put out a lot of plat and gold albums during that time.. classic songs and albums

you could honestly say philly had a nice as nice as any city not named ny, la or atl

Philly was a hotbed of talent and it was pretty much open season with alot of potential. New York was already saturated and it would have been much harder to get NY artists b/c of competition from other labels. And it would have been much easier to get Philly artists popping because they had their own style and there wasn't anyone currently holding it down for them like that in rap.

Exactly. Plus them nikkaz could spit too. Them philly nikkaz at the time really put emphasis on bars.,them nikkaz would all have bars on deck at all times. All them state prop nikkaz, to Quilly, meek, haddi, all those sub zero DVDs, smack and
cocaine city DVDs, Philly nikkaz would be puttin on for real.

I still find it blasphemous how Hov completely and undeniably bit the shyt out of a then 16 or 17 year old young Chris' entire style. :snoop:
