This is common knowledge. You also get back more for child care expenses, home improvements that are energy efficient, etc.

You should have a tax accountant.

Technically you are supposed to get back a minimal amount. The money you are letting the govt take should be invested before tax.

I hate this advice. Taxes for a lot of people can be unpredictable. I experienced that this year.

If I followed this advice, I would have owed over $2000 to the feds. I would rather not owe and get a nice return in the end.

Hello, IRS? A nikka on the coli talmbout he made 90k and got 6k back from taxes. I think you guys might want to audit him

The question is how many exemptions they have listed on their W-4. Last year we had to pay $1800. So, I told my wife to change her exemptions so they take more upfront. Didn’t think about the fact that we’d be getting deductions/credit for putting our 3 year old in daycare. Ended up getting back $1400 this year. Together we gross a little over 160k per year.
