Just finished reading Prodigy's book...

I know p*ssy nikkas who jumped someone before and there's bullies in private school that rob people. None of that is gangster to me.

When I think gangster, not using the rapper cop out when they say shyt like "Taking care of your family is gangster"

When I think gangster, I think of a criminal boss. Someone who has a lot of power on the streets, who is a killer or has known killers on his payroll who control what's happening on the streets. (Not random goons from your hood, I mean real KILLERS. nikkas who lay people down, and you have access to them or you're one of them). Prodigy is a rapper. He's been a rapper since he was in junior high. Has he been around some killers and a lot of crime? No question. He stayed in QB all the time. I'm sure he's been exposed to a lot, and even been involved in street shyt at times.

None of that makes you gangster. shyt if that was the case, damn near every person on Earth is a gangster. Who doesn't know criminals if you from the hood? Who hasn't sold some drugs or fought nikkas? That's regular hood shyt. Prodigy is a kid from the burbs, that was fascinated by the way people lived in the projects, tried to adapt to the life and often times overcompensated by trying to show off for them so they could respect him, and often times just got himself in shyt he couldn't get out of and hung around nikkas who he felt were "gangster" in order to boost his rep. One of those "If they see me hanging around so and so, they'll respect me automatically because nikkas know he's official, so I am by association" kinda of dudes.

These nikkas is pedestrians bro. Trust me. 99% of these rappers is fukking clowns on the streets. There's a select few that aren't fabricating and keeping it real. A nikka like Sean Price for example, nikkas know him for real. nikkas know he was the gang leader of the Triggercons back in the late 80s, who used to terrorize High Schools in Brooklyn. Those kinda guys you can go to nikkas and verify. nikkas will be like "Nah, Price was that nikka". nikkas like Prodigy though? Incredible rapper in his prime, but nikka wouldn't swat a fly off his nose.

Agree 100% based on that definition of gangster. P was no crime boss. Not remotely.
I think it's a little black or white to say crime boss or p*ssy. To me, P is a regular cat who did some dirt and took some losses. But I hear where you're coming from.
You really saying P was from a "suburb" suburb? That goes against everything I've ever heard about Hempstead.

Yeah I'd seen the video posted in this thread already and I watched it again yesterday. P does say that Lake tried to extort him, but Lake doesn't say that he did (in that video at least).

Yeah, that's the impression I got from reading the book. Then again I just saw a Ty Nitty interview saying P was hiding under some trucks when Nore's peoples shot Nitty. Some maybe he made a few fibs here and there.

For real, that sounds dope, I think vice versa, I'll cop the book too just to have it. It's really a good enough project to cop both really. I rate it highly, am glad P sorted the shyt out with Nas too. He sounds like he has a good heart deep down, and has a sense of loyalty to his friends, can just say dumb shyt sometimes.

Agree with this. He does seem loyal, to a fault. That could stem from insecurity and trying to fit in though.

The Extraterrestrial moment in the book is one of the funniest things I eve read. It's hard to take someone serious when they relate to you that they had an extraterrestrial experience. Like someone said on here, I can't remember who, but he posted that alien moment probably was the only thing that Prodigy probably didn't lie about in the book.
