Just found out my apartment complex has a new owner & will be renovated next year

Anyone ever go through this?

Will we have to move out while renovations are done?

Will they cancel our lease?

Can we stay here?

I hope the rent doesnt go up too much

Rennovations typically happens AFTER the current tenant moves out but the empty ones are done first obviously. That unit’s price will increase as well.

So more than likely they won’t touch your unit if you’re still under lease and continue leasing that same unit.

They did some half assed repainting and that’s it. The usual new owner trick.

I left permanently cuz they came up with some rule that we can only own one car, had to get a big red parking permit to put in our window and had to update it randomly whenever they felt like they wanted to change the type of permits.

You should still have the same option to renew the lease, it’s just your apt won’t get renovated until you move out and the apt becomes vacant.
