excuse my ignorance but can someone explain what is hard about the nursing programs?
Is it just the sheer volume of material and pace or is the actual technical aspects of the practice hard to grasp?
I dated a doctor during her med school era and it seemed like a lot of memorization honestly but i'm sure i'm oversimplifying it since i would just walk pass the room and see her studying flash cards at 1am

I'm in tech so used to constantly studying, but looking to do something where i don't need to learn completely new paradigms every 12 months
Extremely Dense memorization. And chemistry, while also doing practical work in the real world.

I was a teenager when my own mother finished her nursing BS and I recall she had pharmacology text books thicker than my head that just covered the different drug types and their interactions. It is a lot of extremely boring content to cover. Much like med school, with step1/2, nurse students are also required to do clinical hours which are often full working shifts in a hospital, while also trying to memorize this information for their licensing boards.

I'm also a tech bro, so I would compare this combo to taking a CS weeder class like Data structures + Algo while simultaneously completing a FAANG internship. Their chemistry would be like discrete math for us.

I got my BSN in 2023 breh, I’m cool off school for now…until I find me a lady to hold me down while I go back lol
No motivation for the crna? I hear some crazy numbers from the nurses i know who went that route.

They seem to be out earning nonsurgical MDs with insane 250-350 salaries with just a masters. I know those anesthesiologists gotta be salty:wow:

Breh, I feel you on this one. I work 6 12hr shifts in a row as my schedule and have been doing that for over a year now. I hate every aspect of life while working it, even after reminding myself that I was the one who asked to get my schedule changed to that insane routine in the first place.

:snoop:

I work 6 days straight then have off 8 days straight every pay period. Ultimately not worth it though.
Savage mode breh. I do my 3 shifts and I’m done! If I have something coming up and need some extra dough, I MAY fukk around and pick up an extra shift. Recently picked up a per diem gig at a nursing home tho. Better rate, 8hr shifts and light work. I’ll pick up extras over there fukk it

My goal is possibly CRNA in the next 5 years or so. Currently work in a cardiac ICU. Gonna get comfortable here first with critical patients once this is light I’ll look into anesthesia. I heard it’s impossible to work and do anesthesia school so I gotta figure out how imma do that. Wifey makes good money but that ain’t me breh

Man I struggled so hard trying to balance finishing my M-FNP degree with work. I can’t imagine anyone working while trying to become a CRNA.

I come from the ER which was cool for me, I loved the rush and excitement there. But I started working in a private practice after I graduated and the flexibility and lower stress rate are hard to top. It especially worked out after my wife unexpectedly passed earlier this year.

Damn homie, I’m sorry to hear about your wife. But I can def see how the ED is too fukking crazy for me breh. You doing a good deed being a NP, there is such a scary shortage of PCP’s out here. shyt is a struggle fam

I still don’t know if I will go NP or anesthesia route but I’m gonna give myself a few years to figure that out since I’m still a novice nurse breh
