I say all that as preface to: you're not supposed to drink on the job. Offering someone a beer during a shift can be a trap, instead of friendly. Someone drinks on the job, and fukks up, then what happens?

Maybe you work at an ex-con site, which would be different, because people give different fukks about shyt, though. Nothing wrong with an ex-con shop, everybody needs to work who has the drive to work and a mark on one's record shouldn't preclude you from good employment. But you severely fukked up saying that to a manager especially if it was a cac . You gotta walk on egg shells with these people . Any chance they get they will off you with the quickness. At my old job cac managers and servers come in drunk as fukk still or hungover. I come in and they pull me aside telling me I smell like liquor. It's bullshyt but it's the world we live in

This warehouse I was at in Memphis some years back had this sista that cleaned up around the place and was pretty cool with the Regional GM (white dude) and caught a bad L like this.

The GM was walking around and showing some other suits the building and he says hi and she turns around and says, "Hey Terry....what up pimp!" and carries on like it was nothing.

He got the look on his face, the people on the site tour are like , and she's like " what did I say ". Calling the Regional GM a "pimp" even though she mean it in the a what's up type manner isn't the smartest thing to say when he's giving customer tours.

She was let go the next day...

Unfortunately, it is a let go-able offense because she simply doesn't understand context. This isn't about a 'knowing your role' type of thing but it is a gateway thing, for the regional GM to show that he has a handle on things and that there is adherence to authority, he had to make an example. Not just that, they probably came at him about what others might be doing if she has the audacity to say that to him, with or without company. These people aren't your friends. Not knowing or knocking her profession but it sounds like she pushed a broom and did some other menial things. She was highly disposable. As I said, leave no doubt about who you are and your work ethic. Consistency is what builds trust. That's why I do the same things over and over at work to the point I'm bland, predictable, etc...but my superiors won't wonder if i'm drunk off my ass and will call off on Monday after a huge sporting win or something.

Back to my original point, context is everything and given that she is lacking it and it was exposed that she did, she became an unfortunate but necessary statistic.
