So way back when Cee-Lo Green broke off from Goodie Mob to become the big dancing Care Bear he became, Goodie Mob fans hoped and prayed that it would all work out in the end. Hey, the bigger Cee Lo gets, the better for Goodie Mob in the end. Sure Gnarles Barkley came and went, but GM would get their shot. Then came the monster hit "Fukk You" and you just knew Goodie Mob was next. Then he joined The Voice. Can you imagine Goodie Mob doing Cell Therapy on the Voice? Then you heard they were working on the album. Soon it would be time.

Last week they dropped their comeback on Fourth Down & Fuq U Records (not really). Where was the media blitz? Where was Cee Lo's media connections coming into play? Where were the hit single with Adam Levine & Christina Aguilera (ok you didn't really want to see that)? Where's the TV appearances? Hell, where's the Cee Lo hit-making skill in action? Where was the single that was gonna take over the radio? I guess it's back to the drawing board for Gip, Khujo, & Mo and back to Hollywood for Cee Lo.

If they did all that, then how would it be an authentic GM record?

They tried to go into the mainstream lane years ago, and their fans almost bit their heads off or it:

A GM record isnt supposed to be some frivolous hollywood ish. Doing all that would kinda defeat the purpose of the aims of the group, and the sound the audience is looking for. Thats why Gipp, and Ceelo branched off to do their own thing. Plus, the members of the group arent exactly white people friendly when it comes to their tone and material.

Dude is 40 now with a successful career and still went back and did some charity for his (today) weak ass teenage band members.

The project obviously didn't get any label support, you can't take a break for 1.5 decades with weak music sounding all out of tune and expecting good things when you weren't big from the beginning.

Also solo success and group success are not really correlated, Eminem & Royce did like 500k with a top 10 hit, Eminem solo did 4-5M.

Cee-Lo and Andre are two the biggest underachievers in rap with arguably top 5 talent
Exactly how is Andre an underachiever? It's like saying that Paul McCartney is an underachiever, for the first 13 years of his career he was in a group that put out 5 extremely dope albums, all with classic accolades/reviews/reception. Then he fell back and started doing movies, fashion, being a dad and the occasional feature cause he still enjoys spitting a hot 16.

I hate to say it but I agree.

No man is ever bigger than hip-hop.

I think that 3000 has the same problem Lauryn Hill has. Folks who are really afraid to get back into the marketplace and would rather live on their past glories rather than come out with some new music that people can vibe to.

It is what it is.
