It's not wrong my man it's toddlers doing cross fit.
It's just a difference of opinion.

I think OP (and others) think that being tough on kids develops character. I think there are different ways to discipline kids and teach them why certain behavior is wrong.

I wouldn't have a problem with the kid doing pushups at like 10 years old.
But 4 is too young in my view.

OP didn't even note in his thread whether he explained why talking to his father that way is wrong.
Rather, it seems, he just punished him.

But it's not my child so OP is within his parental rights to do as he pleases.

Your kid is funny. I love smart ass kids like that.

You love kids that disrespect their parents? :dahell:

How is a 4 year old too young to do something strenuous? What do you think a more apt punishment would be?

I think its safe to assume any person thats not a psychopath is going to tell someone why they are being punished.

I kinda think OP is fulla shyt if he says his 4 year old son can do 10 pushups tho :sas2:

I like kids with smart mouths. Kids will be kids. Some kids possess more balls and personality than others and its funny to watch. Of course as a parent you have to raise them in a manner in which they respect their parents but you can't take a 4 year old too serious.

I think I'll rather just leave my comment as it is.
I've said my piece.

Topics like parenting philosophy usually wind up a big cesspool of arguing where no one is really receptive to any perspective and people just dig in with their opinions....usually with some anecdotal bullshyt like "well my parents did this and i turned out this way...." etc...

Ten years old?:why: Son, I was doing push-ups for fun when I was like 7. It's ten push ups - shyt won't do nothing but teach him a lesson and introduce him to exercise. What kind of weak ass lineages do some of you nikkas come from?

7 is better than 4.

But I suppose you guys have a point.
Making 4 year olds do pushups and other strenuous exercises is clearly the key to building a strong foundation of discipline and character that will uplift future communities....rather than, you know...address what made a 4 year old respond in that manner to begin with.

It's not like he probably wasn't copying some reckless behavior from another adult or anything.

But that's none of my business.

It's pushups. It's not really that serious.
Anything short of "time out," seems to be grounds for domestic abuse and child services being called these days.
As to the bold, being disobedient is part of being a kid.
My father was stern and military and my mom was Peace Corps.
They were as square, polite and average as you could be and I would still occasionally act up just to see how far I could take it or get my way.
Some kids are just mouthy at that age.

That aside, how is this kid being raised that at 4 years old he's replying to people with an attitude like "I wasn't talking to you" ??

:dahell:
Sounds like you were frail at four :sas1:
