I think this is what it comes down to - I watched Breaking Bad first, and most people watched the Sopranos first.

Once you've seen The Sopranos, Breaking Bad doesnt have the same "awe" factor, and vice versa.

Sopranos was dope, but it just wasnt hitting for me
Not the case for me.

I came into the Sopranos late. I watched the first 4 seasons of BB before I watched a single episode of the Sopranos. I binged the entire series in the wait between seasons 4 and 5 of BB.

I recently watched the entire series of the sopranos again about 4 months ago, and listened to an episode of the no fukking ziti podcast to and from work discussing each episode that I watched. Such a fun experience. And it’s still fresh in my head and I can say it def still holds up.

I really have no desire to rewatch BB again despite me having a good time with it too.

We don't have to debate "better or worse", or the even vaguer "entertainment value", but I do think Sopanos is funnier, more down to earth, but it's an entirely different kind of show, in a lot of ways. Yet, the two are linked together, without a doubt. There is no Breaking Bad without The Sopranos, (anti hero, crime/family/ patriarch) but the way television changed since 2000, something like BB could have never had the kind of excellent visuals and use of colors, and abstract shots to add to it's artistic measurement.

I also haven't watched BB again in it's entirety, though I watched it from the premiere on AMC, I think the layers of Sopranos, the humor, make it an easy rewatch. I have ran that all the way through at least 3 times, and half way probably 3 more.

For some, BB will seem much more modern, and probably the first serialized drama they ever watched, I know that's the case for many of my friends. When BB was hitting it's stride popularity, streaming TV was becoming the "thing" for the 2010's, and beyond.

It's hard to compete with that kind of impact. BB introduced people to the joys of a serious, expertly crafted weekly drama, or they binged the whole thing in 2014 or so, when it hit Netflix.

"Sopranos" and "BB" are also linked because "Sopranos" was the most influential show when it came out. It even influenced "BB", like you said.

Likewise damn near every drama after "BB" is either directly or indirectly influenced by "BB".

Breaking Nad is good but overrated..,

Just was a haphazard if adventures of Walt and a Jessie. They kept making moves that wasn’t close to logical. Never liked Walt or Jessie’s character..

Better call Saul got it right by making a spin-off that included the best and interesting characters in BB series. I think BCS is going to pass BB when it’s all said and done.

Sopranos the GOAT tho

Just finished breaking bad after I stopped watching a bunch of times and it was dope. Sopranos(which i didn’t complete yet lol) was a better watch up until the part where tony was in the coma which is the part I stopped watching.

since I didn’t finish it I’ll do it now tho, but in general so many moments in the sapranos absolutely nuts

I like the Sopranos more, as it's grittier and I find it to be more relatable. Not that I have anything in common with any of the characters, but it was less fantasy like (which I prefer).

But Breaking Bad ended on a very high note. That was one of the only dramas I watched where the last few episodes/ending didn't bother me at all.

When I started watching the Sopranos (right after James Gandolfini died), I was hooked right away. It took me until Season 3 to really get invested in Breaking Bad.
