Good evening brehs and brehettes.

It's no secret that now, in 2022, people are rethinking their stance on college and the traditional educational route. We've got guys and gals doing 6 figures, 6 certs without a full four year degree. You don't need to go into debt anymore to find either success or make a good living for yourself.

One thing that nobody should sleep on is Digital Marketing. The reason I bring this up is that you only have to have knowledge of one skill to make a sustainable living nowadays. Once you become a specialist and have a reputation, the world is your oyster.

The Top 3 skills in this space to get good at are:

1. Digital Advertising
2. Email Marketing and Automation
3. Content Marketing and Copywriting

1. Digital Advertising

This includes mainly the ad platforms that drive traffic to e-commerce and service based businesses.

The main ones are:

a. Facebook Ads - This is the main social ad platform. This includes Instagram ads.

b. Google Ads - These are the search ads you see in Google.

Other platforms include: Bing Ads, TikTok Ads, Snapchat Ads, and Pinterest Ads.

If you learn ads the right way, it's like a getting paid a check every week/month for quick optimizations and changes. Once they're running and working, it's very easy to scale them up and keep driving results for clients' businesses. This is where my expertise lies and I absolutely love the art of online advertising. You can go from 0 to 100 real quick and be the source of success for not only yourself, but clients who will pay you big time for it.

2. Email Marketing and Automation

There are literally people who sit around and write/design emails for a living. They set up rules for when emails get sent out (for example, when someone leaves their shopping cart open on an online store) and they just schedule these emails and get paid for it. What a deal!

You can learn how to use tools like Klaviyo, Mailchimp, and more to do email marketing for online and subscription based companies. Once your emails look legit and start bringing in sales, you know you have something.

Email is supposed to be up to 30% of an e-commerce store's revenue, so this skill is important to any online store. More importantly, online store owners usually don't have time for it.

If you can prove that you can drive results (free trial, etc.), you will be paid for it.

3. Content Marketing and Copywriting

Did you know that some writers get paid thousands of dollars to write newsletters, ads and emails? The text in Marketing materials is called 'copy'. The skill of writing this text is called 'copywriting'.

If you study the art of persuasive writing and copywriting and take it seriously, you can specialize in copywriting. You can charge quite literally $200/hr if your rep is that good. Start reading some books by Dan Kennedy and others to get a sense of what the discipline requires, but it's well worth your time, because time spent learning to sell is never wasted.

Even brehs and brehettes who have a day job: you can use these skills to supplement your income and do whatever you want! (invest, vacation, buy a car...). More interesting is that you can have a ton of clients and no real boss or location to report to. It's digital and done online. Sites like Upwork and Fiverr allow you to freelance from anywhere in the world nowadays.

DM me for more info or training on Digital Marketing or how to get started, but now is a better time than ever to learn these skills and businesses will keep needing them through the ups and downs of the economy.

Except none of these skills will actually get you a job unless you’re already getting paid for it by a company. Or have experience in an adjacent role. Or are a college student applying for internships.

Sure you could build a portfolio on these skills, but you’d still have to go through some Pursuit of Happiness job search to get lucky enough to find a company that is willing to hire you.

Finished a six month DM Nanodegree on Udacity, about to take my Facebook Blue Meta Analyst (or w/e it's called) exam in September and I've cold called offering pay-what-you want work and got three practice clients: a small non-profit, an indie Black owned media outlet and a breh who sells tapes thru IG

They need branding and SEO, I need the practice, once I get them looking right, the rest is up to them and my portfolio's gone look good :wow:
