Just played Killer Instinct

Why is it that no matter how many ppl I beat it won't go above level 4? Beat like 5 ppl in a row with Sabrewulf, all the same rank or higher

honorable mention to Rufus, Ryu, Sagat, Sakura, Fei and that's basically all you see. $20 will get you 8 characters in KI same way
trust me dude, you are doing a lot of talking about a game you clearly know nothing about. try the game, get some real experience with it, take the fanboy goggles off, then speak on it. Notice how the people who actually own the game aint complaining about the roster?Ok. Well less is more for some people. I just dont think the moveset of killer instinct warrants such a small cast of characters. Thats just me though, friends.

Thats the fault of the scene, friend. You can make the other characters great to its just that friends dont feel like it. Id rather play that new Blaz Blue game then this KI right now.
No idea, you should be close, but be careful, you drop a rank much quicker than you gain one...I'm not on ranked too much, im not to good I always drop my combos.
Some on the top guys are only like level 11 or 12, and they have won like 150 and only lost like 2-3, so it takes longer the higher you want to go

You know full well that's more for the tournament scene and more people play the game than the ones that go to tourneys.
both of y'all get my point and want to act like it aint the case. you buy Tekken Tag 2 for $60, run two teams (if that) and even though you payed full price for the 50 other characters in the game, you'll never master them all and get your full value. And the average online warior aint using obscure characters, so you won't even play against them that much either.
the small roster and the price is not a knock at all against the value of the new Killer Instinct. All I'm tryna say

You doing a whole lot of assuming on your part son...baseless assumptions at that. And while I'm sure KI is probably at least a pretty solid fighter, having such a small cast is very much a knock against it or any other game of its ilk or similar, competitive style games. This would be like if Halo had only 4 weapons and two "maps" to play on. Forced limitations at THIS point in the game for a fighter is a knock of value, no question. Ionno how things roll over there, but I know among just the known cats I roll with in any fighting game, a good 1/2 of the cast is used at the least, between playing all among them, within games with large, diverse casts like Tekken, Mahvel, SFIV, SC...hell, even in VF. And I still run into much more variety 6-8 typical characters playing randoms online quite often in most of those games that I listed (the ones I still play anywayz). shyt having such a small line-up could put some folks off the game entirely cuz they might not find a single character among such a small number that they even vibe with. Being forced to have a much more restrictive quantity of characters = less situations, match ups/etc. and it certainly can't be argued that you're getting a greater value on some, "less is more shyt" breh, not in this situation. This isn't 1992 breh.

That's expected from every fighting game.
And most fighting games with larger rosters have clones. Ken, Ryu, Akuma, ect. Are all the same character.
There are no clones in KI
each of those characters have completely different play style. you have lost all credibility when it comes to fighting games.
Ryu, Ken, and Akuma been having different play styles since Alpha 1
you can't go into a match using Ken thinking ur gonna play like Ryu
and Ryu, Ken , and Akuma are the only "clones" u are speaking of
Nah they are still very similar. Much more similar than any of the fighters in KI.
And I just used them as an example. Most fighters with large rosters have some characters that are very similar.
