the black cat is my crown...
I watched Sinners multiple times and felt fully immersed into Clarksdale, MS. Can’t say the same about Weapons.
i did enjoy weapons as well, but i second the opinion on how well clarksdale was portrayed... that was awesome... i'd like to see another movie set like that but without the vampire angle...

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
Weapons was at least creative. No idea why people think sinners was a good movie. :snoop:

It felt like a Netflix throwaway flick- all the way down to the forced multiculturism in the *checks notes* segregated south.

And don't get me started with that cringey dance scene. No nuance or nothing. Basically spoon feeding the message to the audience as if we needed to be hand held.

Felt like they took Rosewood (a terrifiic film) and combined it with a bad vampire backdrop.

Seems to have started with that movie "Hereditary". Whats scary about it? Its weird, gross and creepy.

Its about as much of a horror film as "Caligula". Anybody can make a movie with a bunch of demonic/satanic imagery and call it a horror film. Weapons was better than Hereditary as a movie, but same premise.

Designed to creep you out with satanic imagery rather than actually be scary:respect:
it was cool the first time i saw it only because of the intensity of the acting. that lady got into it!! and the ceiling crawl scene at the end :picard: but yeah, i wish more original shyt would come out :yeshrug: i actually liked the first terrifier but that shyt did not need a sequel. i wasnt feeling evil dead rise at ALL. i hated the way they tried to shoe-in ash with the vinyl records lol :scusthov:

man its like the Netflixification of horror or something

i think i mentioned it before but i saw night of the demons from 1988 for the first time a few months ago and its just wild how much better old horror is lol

humanity is kind of at a low ebb currently any way. its fukked up cos in the past, all the violence in the world wouldve inspired great art but nobody cares about anything but getting paid any more. hopefully we can have some kind of modern renaissance in the future cause damn

They had to write the characters as morons in 'Weapons' and that shyt turned into some goofy ass shyt at the end lol

People downplay how hard it is to make the setting feel like a character. Movies and TV shows that do it properly are :banderas:

Weapons was a let down. The first 15-20 minutes were the best. It was a sharp downhill slide from there.

Late Night with the Devil >

Smile 2 >

Man, I thought Smile 2 was not only one of the best recent horror movies but one of the best overall movies I've seen in the past couple of years. I thought it was way better than the 1st one.
