Y2 Hip Hop and OHHLA were the genesis for all this....I was on those heavy in late 90's, I read lyrics for songs on OHHLA I had never heard, and wondered how I could hear them...I had people burn me cd's based on lyrics from songs I had never heard....

Y2 Hip hop was dope, I think it was an English site for some reason, remember downloading real audio files all the time.

when i couldnt afford to buy music and wanted to hear different artists, i'd go to ohhla and read an entire album's lyrics and determine whether it was good or not. No beat and going off whatever flow i seemed fit. I knew Lox We Are The Streets was a classic before ever even hearing the album :obama:

I barely understand it, I was only 13 or so when I was doing that.....I didn't have a cd burner or Napster, I had to harass the kids I knew or pay them...

Hearing 'Drunk By Myself' and 'Wanna Play (Rough) for the first time was so dope.....all those Nas unreleased, 'Blaze a 50' too. A bunch of Shyne tracks I had only read the lyrics too, this was just at the birth of Napster, soon after the flood gates would open and we would be in the early 2000's of rampant leaks and easy access to mixtapes and file sharing programs....this was the dark ages.
